Smokers Blends

Studies are beginning to show that Vaping, using electronic cigarettes, is proving to be just as harmful as tobacco smoking by inhaling chemicals that just should not be absorbed into the body.

I have used herbs that have traditionally been used for smoking like Damiana & Mullein, so these blends are an alternative that may help to heal any damage from tobacco and chemicals.

The 3 Smokers Blends are Feelgood, Relax & Harmony and each has been formulated using Australian Certified Organic & wildcrafted herbs to ensure the quality. They can be smoked as roll your own using cigarettes papers or in a pipe. Because everyone is different, the effects of smoking the herbs will also vary. I recommend using a small pinch of this natural organic herbal smoking mix to gauge its effect.

Alternatively, you can drink the teas too.

Customers find the idea of smoking herbs an intriguing concept and are often baffled by the idea. I tell them this story to give a better understanding.

The Native American Indians smoked different herbs in their “peace pipe” depending on particular ceremonies. They were nomads so they did not plant crops. Tobacco is a crop which needs to be sown, nurtured, harvested, dried and cut. It was not tobacco they were smoking. Native American Indians would gather various herbs which could be dried and smoked.

I recently had a customer verify this telling me that he had visited the Native American Indian reservations in the USA and he saw all the different herbs they would smoke.

Customers can smoke or drink these teas. Either way, there are therapeutic benefits and they are absorbed by the body in different ways. Smoking means absorption through the lungs and drinking them means absorption through the digestive system.

HARMONY – Smokers Blend

This is a “chill out” blend combining Damiana, which can have a strong relaxing effect, with calming herbs and the sweet flavour of licorice root.

Ingredients: Damiana, Raspberry leaf, Passionflower, Skullcap, Licorice root, Sage

Herbalist Tips: Damiana is considered a natural anti-depressant so it has a calming effect in this blend. It is the herb that the “old hippies” smoked, I guess a legal form of cannabis!  Customers who have experimented with vaping have told me that e-cigarettes can cause a severe sore throat, and other unpleasant side effects.

Selling Tips: This is a blend that is helpful for smokers who can mix the herbs with tobacco and slowly wean off cigarettes. I tell customers they can also drink the tea, brewing it the same as any of the herbal tea blends. For customers who have tried vaping, the herb Sage in this blend can help to heal some of the throat damage. I always recommend to customers to use a small amount of the herbs to gauge its effect.

RELAX – Smokers Blend

A relaxing and mellow blend. Damiana can have a strong relaxing effect and is calming. This is a good blend for people who want to quit smoking.

Ingredients: Damiana, Mullein, Skullcap, Calendula, Lavender.

Herbalists Tips: Mullein can have a mild euphoric effect but it is also the ideal herb for lung congestion. Either smoke or drink the tea to help with lung conditions, such as pneumonia, emphysema and smokers cough. Damiana is a natural anti-depressant. Lavender is pleasant tasting and relaxing.

Selling Tips:  This is a popular blend with customers who are dealing with the side effects of smoking, suffering from congestion and smokers cough.  I explain to customers that the Mullein will help their lungs to recover but they may find that the herb will stir up their smokers’ cough initially as their lungs try to eliminate toxins.

FEELGOOD – Smokers Blend

A good everyday smoking blend with Spearmint, adding a nice menthol flavour. Mullein is a lung cleanser and can ease congestion. This is another good blend for people who want to quit smoking.

Ingredients: Mullein, Raspberry leaf, Marshmallow root, Thyme, Spearmint

Herbalists Tips: This is another option for smoke quitters but is also nice to drink. The Marshmallow root and Thyme are both soothing on the throat when made into a tea. Raspberry leaf helps with nausea which is often a dilemma for customer when they quit smoking.

Selling Tips: Not everyone who buys the Smokers Blends want to smoke the teas and would rather drink them instead. This blend has a nice Spearmint flavour.  Any customer that has a lung condition may benefit from this blend.

Soup Herbs

People have been adding herbs to their food for thousands of years and the Soup Herbs offer blends that can have therapeutic benefits for specific conditions. However, they are designed to not just add nutrients, but to add flavour as well.

Once again, customers find the idea of adding herbs to their food very intriguing. I mention to them they may be adding parsley to their soup so using Soup Herbs is not very mysterious.

Herbs are plant food so it really is no different to adding vegetables to food.

I was encouraged to formulate these blends for Paleo broths because many of the blends available contain food enhancers. It was an exciting project and helped to extend the use of herbs from just making teas.

INFLAM-EASE – Soup Herb

This is a delicious & therapeutic way to add nutrients to your meals and be helpful for pain & inflammation issues.

Add a healthy dose of nutrients to your soup, gravy, curries, sauces & marinades. Ideal for making Paleo beef broths and Fod Map diets. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Great for children, healthy for everyone.

Ingredients: Tumeric, Tulsi, Cleavers & Yarrow.

Herbalists Tips: Tumeric and Tulsi are herbs that are reputed to be anti-inflammatory. They are both ancient Auyrvedic herbs which adds a really nice flavour to food. In India, Tulsi is a variety of Basil.

Cleavers (which farmers often to refer to as “sticky weed”) and Yarrow (once called the soldiers herb for its healing ability) will add nutrients plus health benefits. Cleavers is a natural diuretic and supports the lymphatic system. Yarrow has a blood cleansing action and stimulates blood renewal and has a beneficial effect on bone marrow.

Selling Tips: Using the Soup Herbs is as easy as adding a tablespoon of the herbs lightly fried in some olive oil or coconut oil to start a soup or broth. In fact, customers can add the herbs to any foods. However, with this particular blend, it is best as a soup or broth so you can drain the broth through a sieve. Customers can also make the Soup Herbs as a tea.

IMMUNE-BOOST – Soup Herbs

This Soup Herb blend is a delicious & therapeutic way to add nutrients to your meals and be helpful for stimulating & boosting the immune system.

Add a healthy dose of nutrients to your soup, gravy, curries, sauces & marinades. Ideal for making Paleo beef broths and Fod Map diets. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Great for children, healthy for everyone.

Ingredients: Astragalus, Basil, Nettle & Dandelion root.

Herbalist Tips: Astragalus is renowned for its ability to stimulate & boost the immune system. I combined this herb with the delicious & digestive properties of Basil, a herb that can stimulate and vitalise.

Dandelion root will help to stimulate bile flow so is beneficial for the liver, helps to purify the blood and filter toxins and improves blood circulation.

Nettle is a highly nutritive herb, rich in minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium and sodium.

Selling Tips:  Customers prefer this Soup Herb blend for making baby food and adding to their children’s meals. The Basil makes it a delicious mix. It is a nice subtle way of incorporating the immune boosting herbs in food to enhance the resistance to illness.

DIGEST-EASE – Soup Herbs

Ideal for people with digestive issues like bloating, indigestion, heartburn by adding a healthy dose of nutrients to soup, broths, gravy, curries, sauces and marinades.

Ingredients: Ginger root, Dandelion root, Nettle & Dong Quai.

Herbalists Tips: The warming and anti-spasmodic properties of Ginger root make it helpful for flatulence, colic, heartburn, indigestion, nausea & underactive digestion.

Dandelion root is a tonic that can help to stimulate bile flow so is beneficial for the liver, helps to purify the blood and filter toxins and improves blood circulation. Nettle is a highly nutritive herb, rich in minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium and sodium.

Dong Quai is a member of the celery family and is used extensively in traditional Chinese medicine. It contains compounds which have anti-inflammatory and immune stimulating effects.

Selling Tips:  This is a blend I would recommend to customers who have digestive issues like bloating and heartburn. The Ginger** gives the blend a really nice flavour too. With this blend, I like to lightly fry some herbs in coconut oil and make a quick easy soup by adding chopped vegetables and stock and simmering for ½ hour.

**Ginger Root has a different action on the stomach than Peppermint and both are digestive.

Ginger root is anti-spasmodic and Peppermint/Spearmint soothes the muscle lining of the stomach.
